The Newfoundland and Labrador Government has funded a pilot employment program for international students that will help them become permanent residents of the province, according to the Northern Pen. The Student Internship Pilot Program will be delivered by the Association for New Canadians, and will connect full-time international students enrolled at provincial postsecondary institutions to small- or medium-sized businesses for 12-week internships. “We welcome this opportunity to support these leading-edge programs to help internationally trained workers integrate into the local labour market,” said association Director of Career Services Eileen Kelly-Freake. “Undoubtedly, international graduates and students have much to offer local employers, especially in terms of their education, work and life experiences, multilingualism, and global networks.”
