The Quebec government has announced that it will invest $37M to support McGill University’s proposed reconstruction of the Royal Victoria Hospital. McGill states that the project will accommodate research and collaborative spaces for the university’s Sustainability Systems Initiative and the Max Bell School of Public Policy. “This historic site is a unique opportunity to create new ways of addressing the most pressing issues of our time, particularly environmental sustainability,” stated McGill Principal Suzanne Fortier. According to CBC, McGill and the City of Montreal will collaborate with the Société québécoise des infrastructures to create a master plan for the new space before proceeding with construction in 2021.
