Blockchain at UBC

The University of British Columbia has launched a blockchain and distributed ledger technology training path for graduate students, said to be the first in Canada. A release from UBC states that the path will focus on health and wellness, clean energy, regulatory technology and Indigenous issues. 15 industry partners are collaborating with UBC on the project, which also includes internships from Mitacs. “This collaboration will allow us to grow the knowledge base and expertise of scientists to leverage the value of blockchain technology in healthcare,” said Uli Brödl, VP of Medical and Regulatory Affairs at Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd.
